Release: Texture Decal Patch

You can download a small patch for each section of my ortho scenery here.

This package contains TER files which now include bumpy textures that look like dirt, grass, and gravel at low altitude. This will help with low-level flight and landing. The ground, won’t be a messy flat blur when you are too close to the orthophoto. If you’ve struggled into a flare because you can’t judge your altitude well, this may help.

There is probably still a middle ground, where the ortho looks blurry, and the decal isn’t visible yet, but oh well…

If the Ortho looks like this:

Then at ground level, you can see the grass like this:

All this will be very familiar to those that have used the default terrain, as it was lost with Ortho scenery.

This package only contains the TER files, no orthophotos are included.

  1. Download the scenery patch for the ortho pack you have installed.
  2. Unzip and copy the folders into your X-Plane 11\Custom Scenery folder
  3. Overwrite the TER files with the new ones.

  1. Thank you very much!!

  2. Hey there, firstly thanks so much for All the hard work you have put into this, I attempted to start doing this years ago, and life took over. Was so pleased (and relieved) to find a fellow simmer who had done this!! Thank you. I have been wondering for a while. I downloaded the R3 and R3 well over a year ago now, are the torrents still the same or do they now include most or all the little patches you made available?
