A quick update – long overdue.
I’ve released a new update for the South Island. This features a number of minor corrections for the ortho and the mesh.

In other goods news, I should soon be able to seed these files with 500 MB/s upload speeds! Wooo…

Downloaded it all and so far it is looking good. Took a couple of days in all to download, but well worth the wait. Thank you for improving what was already a pretty stunning set of orthos (though so far, I can’t see any difference). Now I have to fly all over the South Island in search of something odd – or better. Roll on your 500mb seed!

Hi. Just wanted to let you know I’ve found a big problem at NZGY Glenorchy.
I was trying to help someone on the org as he had a step in the airport at NZGY which ran roughly from bottom left to centre right side of the runway. This took a while to diagnose as it wasn’t on my sim but we eventually found out he was using the newer R3 version and I was still using the older R2.
I have now downloaded a new west coast R3 and indeed this step does exist and makes the runway almost unusable. If you set up a flight on runway 32 and taxi forward you’ll find the step quite easily.
I put the old R2 version back again and the step goes away and everything looks fine once more so it seems that R3 may have accidentally introduced that issue to NZGY. I have managed to track down the faulty file and it’s –
West coast,
-45+168,
EarthNav folder
Unfortunately that now goes beyond my knowledge of what to do to fix it to make R3 work properly so I just wanted to let you know and fingers crossed you may be able to do something to cure the problem.

Hi. You did say in your last message to me to let you know if I found anything else and I’ve come up with another two unfortunately. I did send a message on the org but I don’t think you’ve read that so I’m guessing that’s not a good way to contact you is it?
Anyway, first is NZWN Wellington. The 16 end of the runway takes a bit of a nosedive down towards the water and also the smaller east apron slopes down at the south end of it. Tested without your ortho it does seem a lot better so I think it’s that which is causing it.
The second one is XNZNB Neils Beach where the runway has some large bumps in it and when I tried an “always flatten” in WED that strangely made it even worse. Tested with the default there is a slope but it’s acceptably small so again I think it may be an ortho issue.
Hopefully there is something you can do with those and I’ll look forward to hearing from you.

I’ve downloaded all of the North Island – most impressive (and I’ve worked with orthoimagery, so I have some idea of what a chore this can be!)
Trying to download the South Island right now, but it appears that there aren’t any seeds – I’ve got 2 files stuck at 96-98% complete. Any ideas?

Hi. I am having the same problem, the North island was downloaded perfectly and the South Island is at 40KB/s. Southland and Otago are suspiciously slow and I am afraid they won’t be complete. Is there any chance that you can seed again? For Christmas? 😉

Hi Lyndiman. First of all, thanks for all your hard work. I’m really enjoying the NZ sceneries! However I’m having problems with downloading the Southland part. I’ve been stuck at 84.4% for several days. I don’t know if it’s a simple matter of no one seeding, or if the file is still corrupt in some way? I would be very grateful if I could get this last part somehow, as the Southland district is where I fly the most! Many thanks /Kristoffer

This work is truly awesome! Thank you for the meticulous effort and time you have put into it. I’ve successfully d/led everything except the Southland area and will continue to seed for a while until I get a reasonable ratio (and likely after that). I’m having trouble with Southland (R3a). There doesn’t seem to be any peers seeding this one. After reading the comments above I’m wondering if there is something wrong with the file being corrupted again. Do you know what’s going on with that file?
This is probably because my torrenting isn’t on – so there aren’t enough seeds from other people.

fist of all thank you so much for contribution such a great scenery to the comunity! I flew the north island and I fell in love with it! I have the whole ortho-USA package and I must say, yours is the best ortho in my portfolio :-)!
However I tried it for a week now to comlete the south island and everything worked fine exept for one file:
South Island West Coast is stucked at ~57%.
I am going to seed your files for a good time to give something back. Is it possible to seed the stucked file?

I’m currently downloading or better trying to download your superb work, however, it seems that seeders for the South Island packages have vanished I got stuck with Otago and Canterbury without anyone seeding it anymore. Is there a chance to re-seed it?
I’m not sure if you are still around this page, the last post is quite a time ago, so I hope you still read in here from time to time!

I would help you out but unfortunately I deleted my original zip files after seeding for a couple months in order to save disk space.
One thing you could try is to make sure you have DHT enabled. I know that I had the same problem and I didn’t have DHT enabled for some reason. Enabling it revealed a couple of seeders. I dled the torrents again and noticed there are 3-4 seeders at 100% for Canterbury and Otago.
First of all, thanks for the fast reply. Never had thought it would only take minutes under a post several years old.
I had already enabled that option, however, as I get more and more regions downloaded, at least the Otago torrent start to gather seeders now.
Probably because I have limited my similtanously downloads.
I’ll hope that will be the case with the Canterbury torrent too.
